Windshield Calibration Calamity – Part 1

Windshield Calibration and  Your Car

Driver-assist technology is continuously being introduced in new vehicles. From surround-view cameras to auto-braking, these features introduce new opportunities and problems to face. Windshield Calibration is here now and here to stay.

These present an additional obstacle to work around with auto glass replacement.

For this tech to work, cameras and motion sensors are often placed under the windshield(s) of your vehicle. After a windshield replacement, problems with those sensors may arise.

To avoid these issues, the cameras need recalibration. This process protects you, other drivers, and relieves a possible insurance nightmare.

If you have a vehicle with one of these sensors or cameras, they need recalibration. There are certified technicians that can do this for you. Your auto glass shop should mention recalibration if your vehicle needs it. As a note, Adventure Auto Glass will discuss the calibration needs of your vehicle.

This is only a problem for those with driver-assist cameras or sensors. However, this is NOT an issue for wipers or headlight sensors. If you are unsure, feel free to ask your technician or customer service rep and they will gladly be able to tell you.

Stay tuned for a much more in-depth overview of what exactly this means for you, including the different types of recalibrations. As always, feel free to call us if you have any questions, we are happy to help!
